Cosmos

Inspiration
Globe amaranth
The cosmos are here!
The first cosmos of the season just popped up & I'm always inspired by them.
The other pretty flowers are globe amaranth and not red clover
as I mentioned in my previous post (thanks Margie for your keen eye!)
Some of you have asked where I get those smooth flat stones...
Manolo bought two big sacks full of them for a project and ended up not using them.
Luckily for me because now I've got stones to paint for the next ten years!

Very beautiful, Geninne. You could sell that top image as a poster.

The pinks are so pretty. Cosmos would be on my list of top 10 favorite flowers if I were to make one.
I love your painted stones. Near where my son lives in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia there are many very smooth stones to be found on the beach. For their garden,I did a large one with Queen Anne's lace and a dragon fly last year at Christmas.

I think I am going to draw these!the colour reminds of Potassium permanganate, the antibiotic I use to wash lola's paws and ears after a walk.

I love your cosmos stone!! I love cosmos, it grows here in South Africa too. Not at the coast where I am living now, but inland, near Johannesburg. It flowers next to the roads around April and the beautiful white, pink and red flowers are amazing!

Cosmos are too sweet, and I love when the Japanese anemone come into bloom. They have a similar look.

Everything you do is so pretty. I am always inspired by your posts and photos and paintings.

I am loving the size of your photos on your posts and can't figure out how to do that through my blogspot. Do you have a minute to e-mail me and possibly turn me in the right direction?

Thanks so much and thanks for the inspiration.

Oh, and the cutest dog ever.

Wow! Geninne this is so pretty. I wanted to tell you that you have inspired me to do just this. It's so easy to get lost in our daily schedules and I certainly did. You have helped me to find the inspiration and the beauty around us. Stop and smell the cosmos...so to speak.
thank you xo Nancy.

We live by a beautiful river and I am forever collecting stones. Last Sunday was my friend's 80th birthday, so I looked at your rocks and then painted one of my one. When I got to the party, she had painted names on rocks and shells to show us where to eat, so I just added mine to her place setting. Very nice. Do you use matte, satin, or gloss spray on top, or maybe paint some clear shellac, or just leave them as is?

What do you use to mark on the stones? It's so delicate, too delicate for a paint brush surely...
