Hundreds of Thousands
We have the privilege of living right under the daily path of hundreds of thousands of birds (still haven't figured out what kind they are). They fly above us bound east at dusk and back home to the west at dawn. I finally got to film them yesterday afternoon.

Wow, there are so many! What a blessing.
It's almost like a little ballet. It's very fascinating and elegant when SO many birds flap their wings at the same time. :))
It looks like you have bats!
Bats? Or Vauxhall Swifts?
that's what i was thinking....BATS
Nope, not bats. Saw them up close. Although that would be awesome too!
amazing!!!
thank you geninne
my mom would have really loved to see them
but maybe she is already looking at them from a very different perspective

Geninne, your blog is amazing....I like to visit it and kwow all the great things you do. And I love Turbo!!!
Regards from Chile
Great video and lovely music! Thanks for dedicating this to Margie!Ariadne from Greece!
Could they be starlings?
yes, starlings. They fly to "dormitaries" at dusk, where thet make a lot of noise until it is quite dark (and a lot of something else underneath, too), and fly away at dawn. At least that's what they do here in Europe.
Wow! Birds plus Jan Garbarek :) He's a polish composer so regars from Poland :) Pozdrawiam. ach!
This time of year, starlings, grackles, and cowbirds flock together, especially at dusk. I see them here around cornfields and large hedge trees (their roost). It's really neat to see them lift off and take flight together; they undulate like fish!
I used to have something like this where I used to live (on the Gold Coast, Australia) every night at dusk, but for me it was flying foxes! They fly much more slowly than these birds of yours though :)
I can't believe I never drew them!
Wow, that sure is a lot of birds.

How perfectly appropriate you, the amazing bird artist, have moved to where these wonderful birds bless your day, everyday!!! God revealed!!! Did you know about these birds before you moved? You are not going to believe this: the word verification I'm asked to type is "wingt". What a coincidence. Thanks for sharing, HUGS!
Beautiful!!!
Amazing!
So wonderful to see!
Your lot looks spectacular, Geninne!
Can not wait to see the new house go up!!
The birds are amazing - you will have to post when you find out what they are. But the sky - simply gorgeous!
Beautiful! I wonder if they could be purple martins?
That is amazing! And nice to hear Garbarek on a foreign site - who by the way is norwegian, not polish (his father was from Poland) :)
I love the color of the clouds and i imagine the sound of all those birds... that's beautiful !
In Rome (Italy), just above the major train station and in other parts of the city, everyday at sunset millions of starlings begin to fly in formation, creating incredible pictures and shapes in the sky. You can watch them in this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BdE8MQ3Toz4
Gennine, thank you for your work and for your blog, it enlights my day when I'm sad and fulfills my joy when I'm happy.
Kiss from Italy!
How fitting that you are now in a place with so many birds!!! Was meant to be!
Amazing. And the sky is so beautiful too.
It's like it's snowing sideways. What a beautiful moment to capture.
ohhhh...so beautiful!
That was amazing, the way your video captured "the end."
What part of the world are you in? Starlings are regarding kindly in Europe (where they are apparently native) and unkindly in the US (because they are introduced and decimated native populations). But we can still enjoy looking at them.
Genine,
I just got this e-mail from you. This is amazing. Has this always occurred or a recent event? Really interesting, wonder what they know that we don't!

This is incredible! And the sky is unreal. Thank you for sharing this great clip
This is amazing. It totally gave me a gasp of fresh breath this morning. Completely inspiring! I grew up below a Canadian geese path...I had forgotten how breathtaking it is to watch birds on their path. Thank you!
That is so extraordinary! I love the music you put with it too. I don't think I've ever seen so many birds at once and how amazing that all of a sudden it all ends. Thanks so much for sharing!
Two things. Amazing, what an astonishing quantity of birds, and how wonderful that they fly over your house. Secondly, beautifully shot. The clouds and the weeds with the birds flying by, just lovely.
if you are in vancouver, canada, which i am, they are ravens. they go over our house twice a day. amazing.
my husband and i live right on some bird path as well. at 5 o'clock everyday they fly by and occasionally all stop on our, and our surrounding neighbors, trees. it scares the heck out of our puppy, and sometimes me :)
