I live in San Diego area and every day as I drive soputh to pick up my son from high school I notice all these thousands of birds as well. They are amazing! I love your blog.

They come like huge waves of black for us. They move in such a fluid manner, it's a fascination for the children every year.

When I lived in Spain there were little birds which did these formations in the sky and would swoon and stoop so close...beautiful pictures.

Char, we call them "vencejos", they fly home at sunset and it's one of my favorites memories from home in Spain.

This reminds me of an amazing doco I saw a few years ago, it was presented by Bill Oddie and showed starlings (? pretty sure it was them) swooping and flocking in just the thousands. Amazing stuff.

oh my! we had a huge black cloud come down us for a few days....well, it wasn't a cloud, but hundreds of Starlings came down and devoured any leftover grapes on the vine. It was crazy cool!

i have a bald eagle that likes to visit our tree in the front yard. every day i look forward to his visits. we also have a couple ravens that frequently come over and hang out. when it's bbq season, we leave a bowl in the back with our salmon scraps. We ting the side of the bowl, and the ravens know it's supper time!!
