I recently purchased these
twobooks online and they arrived last week.

My eleven year old son Daniel
was immediately smitten by them
& got inspired to do some hand carving himself,

and as his big brother told him:
"You're a natural!".
He turned out to be really good at it :)

I love all the little details.

And after the pirate ship,
he decided to make a Star Wars starfighter.
Yes, he's a natural... his details are so impressive! My ten year old son will flip when he sees your son's work. I'll have to go check out those books. I'm hooked and I can't stop carving, either.
i like both ships, daniel.
it is great fun to carve and then you get to share the cool art.
it makes me want to make some too!
Wow! My two little stamp loving boys are going to be in awe of your guy when they see these.
So great!
Your family is so very talented! I cant believe a 10 year old did this. Well done! I want to run down to my local craft shop and buy everything I need for stamping now!
WAUW!!! Your son truely has talent for drawing and creating stamps...beautiful work!
What a talented young man you have!
These are amazing. What a talented guy!
My little guys are dually impressed! Star Wars, pirate ships AND carved stamps it's a trifecta of coolness as far as they're concerned. We've been spending the first day of our spring break carving new trail stamps for letterboxing. Fun stuff!
So, not to sound stupid, but is that a soap carving? Or wood? Would soap even be durable? Is it something else? It really is very well done.
Holy cow, that son of yours has talent! I love seeing all the creativity that comes from your family.
Wow! He did such a great job on those.
wow...like mother, like son! his carvings look a lot better than mine!! :)
Your son did a great job!I live in Paris,France and I bought the same book awhile ago from a japanese book shop !Y.S
Wow, he is a natural! That's really neat. I love pirate ships. :)
your son did a great job with his rubber block! you should really be proud if him. He's a natural for sure :-)
Daniel, you're a champion! These are the kinds of things you'll look back on and treasure always.
With such creative parents, it comes as no surprise. Those are totally more impressive than my first attempt.
Just so impressive- at any age!

You have one talented family there!
Just so creative! You should be proud :)
11! WOW, he did a superb job. For sure a natural. ;o)

I love your son's stamps! They made me smile. My brother used to draw Star Wars star fighters all the time, and your son did a fantastic job!
Those are so amazing! he's super talented!
Now i feel like making some to.
That's a lot of detail for that size stamp. Your son has skills!
Love the pirate ship. Our school's auction is a pirate theme so that caught my eye. My son would LOVE the starfighter one.
Thank him for sharing with us!
I wish I'm as good as your sun. That's a very detailed work!

Oh, wow - such talent (not surprising with his parentage of course) - I adore the pirate ship!

It's very obvious that talent runs in your family! I am so impressed that Daniel carved such a detailed stamp on his first try. I've been interested in hand carving stamps for a while now. Your work has been very inspiring to me, and now Daniel's will be too!
I've bought a few books on carving that you might find interesting:

Wow!! Please tell him I think he has awesome, natural talent. Has he ever talked about being an artist? Maybe a sculptor. Wow.
I wish they shipped to the US...boo hoo! Their other site does not carry them.
The ship ROCKS!
So cool! Just stumbled across your blog. This makes me want to go and make some too.
I told you I was excited to try this! Check out my (somewhat pathetic) first attempt...I am not quite up to Daniel's standard! http://ginghamcherry.blogspot.com/2009/04/i-love-stamps.html
I stumbled upon your blog looking for blogs about art, and WOW--you have an amazingly talented family!
I am always envious of people with a natural talent for art and design.
Your kids are extremely talented too!
