Bird cage
I bought this beautiful piece of junk last week...I had been on the lookout for an old bird cage
for some time and I just fell in love
with this rusty metal one as soon as I saw it.
The bits of turquoise just won me over.
Now I need to make a little birdie to live in there...
The cage is 20 inches high and
13 inches in diameter.

Ack! That's perfect! The turquoise!
::dies of jealousy::
Your birdcage is wonderful. I have the perfect vintage stand that goes with it. Sadly I do not have a cage.
Score!
what a find! i love the color!
I could look and look and never find something as beautiful as that birdcage :) it's truly beautiful.
Very cool...
sweet find! the turquoise is perfect!
hermosísimo hallazgo, Gennine!
The birdcage was meant for you and you alone. Who else could possibly create the perfect birdie to live inside but you??
Have fun making and I can't wait to see the end result.
I found a birdcage on the side of the road once, but not nearly as perfect as that one. Check out these two posts for making birds. I have been putting together a collection of these ones; so addictive. http://www.spoolsewing.com/blog/2008/05/16/bird-mobile/

What a great find. It's age and the turquoise gives it real character
Really like it!!
Oh! I've been looking for one for AGES ... Really looking forward to seeing what little friend ends up there :)
love it! :^)
I just found your beautiful blog through Judy at Fabrics and Crafts. What a lovely place you have here and what an amazing artist you are!! Your birds are simply breathtaking...just wonderful! Enjoy your new find, and so I glad it was just what you were looking for!

Love the bird cage! I've been looking for something similar myself. What a fabulous find!
I'm not sure if I've left a comment over here before, but I am a frequent visitor to your blog and I'd just like to say that I love your art (and home)!
I've just been awarded the 'Brilliant Weblog' Award, and I'd really like to pass it on to you.
:)
Details on my blog.
Cheers,

so beautiful. I have an empty birdcage hanging on my front porch which I just cannot part with. I understand the love.
I was just thinking yesterday about how much I missed the perfect birdcage I'd trashed after hanging on to it for years because I couldn't figure out what to do with it. Of course, that was before I was addicted to sewing... so I'm totally coveting yours. What a beautiful find!
ooh it's lovely. I love aged it looks. the little birdie will love their new home.
It is indeed a beautiful thing. I have an old cane one that belonged to my grandmother. I love your little birdies!
The bigger the cage the better, no matter what size the occupants.I always feel sorry for a Cockatoo sitting in a cage with just one perch to stand on and not even the opportunity to hop.
